How to Eat Healthy Without Eating Excess Protein

The first time I ate a bowl of soup with some lettuce and tomato and some water, I thought I had stumbled into the world of the paleo diet.

It was a moment of wonderment. 

The idea of being able to eat just enough food to support my body and mood has become so ingrained in our culture that the concept of “healthy” is often treated as a mere word.

I don’t care how much you eat.

I want to feel good.

So I started eating like a carnivore.

But in order to be a true carnivore, I had to cut out carbs, and I did so in the wrong way.

I had never before cut out meat, but when I tried a bowl that included carrots, celery, parsley, and a salad of romaine lettuce and tomatoes, I felt a little more comfortable.

And the kale I used in the soup wasn’t just a salad.

It’s an entire vegetable.

That was a big plus.

It’s easier to get your nutrients from greens, and the health benefits of eating whole, unprocessed vegetables are more than worth it.

But I was also eating too much carbs.

And my blood sugar was skyrocketing.

It had reached dangerously high levels by the time I started cutting out meat.

The good news?

You can eat a diet full of whole foods and still stay healthy.

The bad news?

Eating too much sugar and not enough vegetables could lead to obesity and diabetes.

So to stay on the paleos path, I started eliminating carbs.

I was doing it because it seemed like a good idea, and it was.

After eating a bowl with lettuce and some tomato and water, my blood glucose shot up.

But after a few days, I was back to normal.

I did it for a couple of reasons: I was eating healthier, and there were some important changes I was making in my life.

In fact, the only thing I made worse was my relationship with food.

I’ve known that my health and my mood were improving for a while now, but my relationship to food has been a constant struggle.

I can’t seem to get over the fact that I’m eating too many carbs.

The only thing keeping me from falling apart is the fact I’m not doing it enough.

For a long time, I’ve been doing a lot of “carbs and sweets” type of diet.

Now that I’ve stopped eating a whole food bowl, I’m starting to find the joy of making delicious food, and seeing the results.

There are some things I miss: the days I could just eat salad and eat dinner, the days where I could eat something like a bowl or salad with a side of pasta, and just be happy.

I miss the time where I’d be so excited about making dinner and eating dinner and feeling good, and not worry about anything.

I’m going to have dinner with my family and I’m ready to eat, and when the time comes, I can feel great.

I also miss the days when I’d sit down and eat a bowl, and that was fun and relaxing, but I’d also be exhausted and hungry.

I need that feeling back.

I’ll definitely eat less carbs in the future.

My next goal is to go vegan, and as long as I stay away from processed, processed foods and get a lot more exercise, I’ll be okay.

But if I have to stick to paleo, I know I can achieve my goals.
