A new guide to eating healthfully in America

Health experts are urging Americans to take a fresh look at the basics of healthy eating, particularly how to eat out.
They say a new guide will help make the changes that are necessary for healthier eating and eating well in the future.
A guide by nutrition professor Mark Bittman, who is a professor of nutrition at the University of Virginia, is aimed at helping Americans make healthier food choices and increase their likelihood of achieving their health goals.
“The new edition is a really powerful piece of literature and it will help guide us in what we can do to help our children eat better,” Bittmans professor of food science, nutrition, and public health, said in a statement.
The new guide, titled Healthy Food Choices: A guide to Healthful Eating in America, comes as the nation continues to grapple with a host of health problems linked to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high suicide rates, and cancer.
The latest research shows that the nation has the highest obesity rate in the developed world, and the nation ranks 28th in terms of diabetes and 28th on cholesterol.
The American Heart Association says that eating healthy is a fundamental part of a healthy lifestyle.
That includes eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, whole-grain breads, dairy products, and seafood.
“We have a lot of work to do to improve our health and to get people back to their healthiest selves,” Bowers said.
