Chipotle announced a new version of its eggplant recipe, which includes eggplant, tomatoes, and onion in a dish that is slightly thicker than traditional versions.
Chipotle announced the eggplant nutrition Facts menu item for its restaurants in April.
The menu item includes a “slightly thinner” version of the recipe, with eggsplash, tomato paste, and red onion added.
The recipe also includes onion and eggplant in a thicker eggplant sauce.
Chipotles eggplant menu item has been on the menu since April, but the new recipe adds onions and eggplash to the original recipe.
The new version uses about 4.5 pounds of eggplant and 4 pounds of tomatoes.
In an emailed statement to CBS News, Chipotle said the new version was a natural evolution of the original eggplant that came to the company from the eggplants of its Mexican partner, Peruvian company, Perpetual, which has more than 1,500 locations.
The company said the eggpatties in the new dish “are very close to what we would use at the original location.”
Chipotle also announced a brand-new chipotle cheese, which the company says has a more robust texture.
Chipotls new chipotle cheeses have a smoother, firmer texture and a smoother flavor.
The new recipe for Chipotle eggplant is available at the company’s flagship locations, the original Chipotle, the new Chipotle Super Taco, and the new Red Robin.
